Should You Use High Tech Gender Selection?

If you are a person who has had all boys or all girls and want to have the other, Gender Selection could be an alternative to the natural surprise method. There are natural ways that are free for you to use other than books and supplies, and then there is the high tech world for Gender Selection. High tech in choosing the gender for your baby is good for those who have already tried the natural methods and for those who like to plan ahead when wanting only one or two children.

The high tech method of Gender Selection does not involve traditional ways of conceiving a baby, but rather using a lab to determine the gender of your baby. It has been use with much success and has been clinically proven to boost your chances of having the gender you want for your baby. These methods include the Microsort method, PGH Preimplantation Genetic Haplotyping, PGD preimplantation genetic diagnosis, and the Ericsson method.

Microsort Sperm Sorting is, thus far, the only clinically proven method for separating the boy and girl sperm. This procedure involves sorting the male sperm, and for a boy, mostly boy sperm are injected, and for a girl mostly girl sperm are injected into the mother for conception. Currently, this is not a perfect sorting method as the boy and girl sperm cannot be sorted out completely.

If you want 100% accurate Gender Selection, the PGD preimplatation genetic diagnosis is your method. This method is used only in IVF procedures which means there is no guarantee that you will become pregnant, and is quite invasive and expensive. It does, however, guarantee one gender or the other if you do become pregnant and deliver.

The Ericsson method has actually been used since the 1970s, but there is no clinical proof that the spinning the sperm separate them enough to allow results that are any more accurate than conceiving the natural way. If anything, it has been shown that the chances are still 50/50 with this method of Gender Selection.

Choosing to use Gender Selection whether high tech, or natural is totally up to the individuals involved. The one thing that you must remember is that none of these methods are 100% except the method used with IVF, and that is only if you become pregnant.
